There are usually two parts to the HF10™ procedure. The procedure is performed either under sedation or general anaesthetic. Firstly, there is a TRIAL procedure where temporary wires (called ‘leads’) are placed into the epidural space (a layer around the spine) via a needle, similar to the procedure some women have during labor. These leads are attached to the skin and a Temporary Stimulator is used to deliver HF10™ for approximately 7 days. Secondly, if the trial procedure has been successful, a FULL IMPLANT is performed. During implant, the leads are usually placed in the epidural space, similar to the trial.
These leads are then tunnelled under the skin to an Implantable Pulse Generator (IPG; similar to a cardiac pacemaker) which is implanted in the buttock. Following implant, a technician will program the device to optimize your treatment. Nevro® provides extended support to patients and a team of clinical specialists will be available to follow your progress in the months and years after implant.
A large Randomized Clinical Trial completed in 2017 demonstrated a reduction in pain of 67% and 65% in patients with leg and back pain respectively.
